KUB Interpretation

A large amorphous, well-defined, ovoid, calcified mass in the pelvis – commonly seen in degenerated fibroids.

Key Points

  • Uterine fibroid should be suspected if there are gynaecological symptoms and a palpable pelvic mass.
  • Ultrasound of pelvis is the imaging modality of choice.
  • Plain radiograph may show characteristic amorphous calcification in a degenerated fibroid.
