Nail involvement is frequent in patients with psoriasis, and mild cases are characterized by small pits and yellowish discoloration of the nail plate.

The nails are affected in the majority of patients with psoriatic arthritis, but nail involvement can be seen in all types of psoriasis.

The fingernails are more frequently affected than are toenails (on average, in 50 percent of patients as compared with 35 percent), and lesions range from pits and yellowish discoloration to severe onychodystrophy, a typical complication of acrodermatitis continua suppurativa
