The image shows the appearance of a lump on the chest wall of a 58-year-old housewife. She presented to the surgical outpatient clinic with a history that she had noticed the lump many years before.
It had slowly but surely enlarged over this time, but had never hurt her. Now it was beginning to show through her clothes and both she and her husband were getting embarrassed by this.
She was operated upon in the day surgery unit. Under local anaesthetic infiltration, a transverse skin crease incision was made over the mass. The lump enucleated easily and almost bloodlessly from the subcutaneous tissues. The appearance of the excised specimen is shown in the image.
